Film Otago Southland was founded to nurture and champion screen production across the landscapes of Otago and Southland. Working with integrity and impartiality, and supported by local government, the organisation exists to connect stories from this place to audiences around the world.

The Film Otago Southland team sought a brand that could speak to international audiences while celebrating the richness of local talent and terrain. Stretching from the wilds of Southland through Central and North Otago to Dunedin, the region offers a visual language as dramatic as the stories it inspires.

The resulting brand mark draws upon four sentinel peaks—Mt Aspiring (Wānaka), Harbour Cone (Dunedin), Mitre Peak (Fiordland), and Lindis Pass (Central Otago/Waitaki). Together, they form a symbolic horizon: a geographic anchor that embodies unity, strength, and the shared ambition of promoting film in the region.

The palette flows from place itself—golden tussock, rugged mountains, granite stone—an echo of the land’s textures and tones, grounding the brand in the elemental spirit of Otago Southland.
